9:10 pm - My new LJ project : Travel guru
Nation wide restaurants:
Melting Pot - AWESOME and so much fun! The pacific rim platter for two is to die for.
PF Chang - Delicious! Get the lettuce wraps and peach sake, pretty much everything is tasty
Chipotle - The meat is a bit salty, and everything is packed with cilantro, but if you like that combo, this is the place for you!
Burrito Loco - BBQ chicken burritos, YUM!
Cheesecake Factory - Artichoke omlette!!! Way spicy bloody marys though
Buca's - Always get one dish less than the waiter tells you. I would recommend always getting the garlic bread (no cheese) and the gargonzola salad.
Applebees - Kind of going down hill, but great variety of food
Rock Bottom - Great BLTs
Hard Rock Cafe - Not as awesome as everyone makes it out to be - but their zingy mac n' cheese is pretty good.
Noodles - Best mac n' cheese and pesto noodles ever though they've revised their pricing so it isn't an awesome deal anymore

LA
Koo Koo Roo - GROSS
In N' Out - Cheap, delicious, and freshly shipped ingredients everyday. A must.
The tea room at the Huntington library and botanical gardens - A bit pricy but oh so chic and fun :) a must for any LA visit

Portland:
Fife - WAY pricy so I just got the salads which were tasty but, between the two of them, tasted the same
Manzata - Get the Dead Guy beer
Gustav's - Get the German sampler, it's the best deal and very authentic. Don't forget to get a beer!
Portland City Grill - 30th floor of the US bank building. Gorgeous view and the food is wicked cheap! I would recommend the crab/shrimp bruschetta and the chive burger - both fantastic deals. Also, the BEST martinis in portland! Take that, Saucebox!
Sharis - GROSS
Noah's Bagels - Tasty, but pretty much like every other bagel place. I would recommend the chocolate chip bagel with maple-walnut-raisin cream cheese
Tom's Pancake House - AWESOME
Jone's cupcakes on 10th - MUCH more creative cupcakes than Saint Cupcake - must try these! The Key lime pie was my fave.
Saint Cupcake - Not the most creative cupcakes, but still tasty. Do NOT get the red velvet, it tastes like buttery food coloring
Saucebox - WAY pricy food, but if you like 100 variations of martinis with their hand made infused vodka, then go for it
Masu Sushi - Meh, their caterpillar (named something else but I can't remember what) was pretty tasty. The free and endless edamame was nice too
Voodoo Doughnut - Try anything with dirt (oreos) and the custard filled ones are also a big win
Still have to go to these places, but I've heard good things:
Desert:
Alma chocolate
Bakery Bar
Binh Minh Bakery and deli
Blue Moon cafe
criollo bakery
Bumblekiss
Sahagun
pix patisserie
Food:
Trust, a lounge
Virginia Cafe/Bar
Cafe Castagna
Acme
Autentica
Ciao vito
Fat city cafe
Foxfire teas
Good taste restaurant
Nostrana
pok pok
sohbet
tabor
valentine's
bar patiche/champis
blue gardenia
helser's on alberta
por que no?
tastebud farm

Chicago:
Ed Debevic's - A MUST! If they have banana pie, get some for me

Minneapolis:
Pizza Luce - AWESOME If you like BBQ sauce on your pizza, get the rustler, it's the bomb. If you're going solo, the muffliata is delicious and huge!
Triple Rock Social Club - Everything is amazing and unique, a gem hidden in MN
Loring Pasta Bar - Meh, good coffee though!
Solera - Summer happy hour from 11-1, way cheap white or red sangria, half price tapas, lots of fun to try new things!
Zeno - $3 martinis and b1g1 apps from 3-7 EVERYDAY
The Band Box - Pretty chill, just so-so though
Al's - AWESOME try the wheat pancakes and well, anything on the menu. The summer specials are a great deal too
Maria's - AWESOME Plantain pancakes are my fave. corn pancakes are my second choice, after that I think the sandwiches are a pretty good deal
Chino Latino - Pretty trendy - happy hours are a good deal cheap house wine, for the 4 different kinds of tacos, get one of each and also try the french toast of the dead
The King and Thai - Meh
Chevy's - Get the guac, everything else is just so-so
Origami - Great if you split a bottle of wine, everything else will fall into place
Uptown diner - large portions but still a bit overpriced. The blackened fish with breakfast deal is the best thing to get here.
SOHO cafe - Giant, quick food, pretty decent
Fuji Ya - Terrific happy hour on Sundays
Still have these places to check out:
Azia
Palomino
Chang Mai Thai
The restaurant in the Walker Art Museum

Milwaukee:
Spyhouse - AMAZING more for the ambiance than the food, but that's still great too. A MUST if traveling to MKE
Kopps - Also a must! The BEST burger and custard IN THE WORLD
Cosi - The only sit-down-with-waitress Cosi that I'm aware of (which makes it WORLDS better than the other ones) Try any coffee and you'll be very pleased with the gigantic mug they give you. Other than that, the smores are the only other thing worth while on the menu

That's all for now, maybe I'll add some sight-seeing ventures too, but there's definitely more to come!!!

2:19 pm - Phew! that was rough.
Aight, Fall semester of 2005 is finally done. Just checked my grades and three As and a low B made me way happy ("in the pants" as gregory would say). Though I am kind of disappointed with myself for not trying harder in my DHA textiles class (low B). Even though I didn't have the book, I should've at least studied for the final... and not partied hard the night before, staying up till 4 in the morning... yeah, that was probably not the best decision. Oh well. Next semester I have 6 classes: Softline Analysis, Multichannel Retailing, Principles of Marketing, Fundamentals of Management, Human Evolution, Strategic Career Planning. WOAH fun! no... not really. Though I am taking Anthro with Gregory! Kinda sucks that it's going to have me tied up till 1:15 on FRIDAY grrrrr. But that's nothing compared to my Softlines class... 8:30 am Monday, Wednesday AND Friday!!!

Enough about school. Last night (Christmas Eve) my parents convinced me to attend David's family's shin dig and I'm so glad they did!!! I had a wicked awesome time and I can already see his cousin Emily adores fashion just as much as I do. Oh happiness! Foosball and good food were especially enjoyable after a long day of working at Marshall Fields. A long day of work with a very eventful shopping trip during my break! (Yay shopping!!!) I was particularly concerned about going to David's in jeans so I had a prefect excuse to buy a new skirt! and ended up buying two... heh, and a pair of new shoes. But they were such awesome deals!!!! A Couture Calvin Klein skirt, originally 295, purchased for only 50! So chic and delicate, I love it. My second Ellie Tahari skirt, originally 228, only paid 25! Man, I love deals! This skirt is more fun: awesome pattern, pink and black, silk and flowy, wonderful. Enzo Anglioni shoes, only 22, though I'm going to return these... sad. Oh! and presents: David's mom (even though she only had ~5 hours notice that I was coming) had to buy me a present and made his brother try and find something in his hardware store (the options were a plain plastic bulb candle or one that changed colors...) so he ended up driving to the flower store after work for me! I don't think he really had a choice, but he's a sweetheart for sure.

And planting that flower is on my gargantuan list of things to do today... so I better get on that.

Oh, I also got a new haircut since I last posted. Fricken' rocks!!! Though my hairdresser was absolutely HORRIBLE and nearly fucked up everything to such a royal extent... I was terrified, but managed to fix everything with the help of her Aveda instructor.

3:25 pm - bummin around
So, I'm waiting for Gregory to get out of the shower so we can watch a movie I just got in from Netflix. Now you get to read all about my wonderfully exciting day!

Maybe I should start off with my weekend: Friday I chickened out going to come chiropractic thingy that I won (supposedly worth $540... I think they were lying) Then had a nummy snack at the Falafel King and got to watch David try to work out the whole pita thing. Quite amusing :) After that I worked till close (got a dozen compliments on my RobotLove t-shirt, yay!) and then came home to drink a pitcher of margarita and dance like a crazy woman to Melodious Owl with naomi. Then everyone abandoned the party to hang with the emo kids upstairs and... well, let's just say that's when the party really started
hehe

Saturday: slept and slept and slept... mmmmm it was awesome :) Watched Igby Goes Down (I recommend it, crazy movie)Then got all dressed up in my diesel dress to go to the Andy Warhol exhibit opening at the Walker with Ezekiel. Here's the silly part: I poured four shots of gin into a flask and stuck it in my boot to smuggle it in!!! hehe, I felt like such a cowboy! But yeah, it's way cheaper to drink that way and I'm also not 21 yet so I guess this was really my only option without being dependant on Ezekiel to buy drinks for me. The artwork I think was even enhanced by the tipsy experience. Andy Warhol was more trippy than I was expecting it to be, an archeology exhibit seemed extra eerie and odd. Though I was bummed with the Warhol movie, just a dozen vignettes of couples making out, no music, no plot. Then it took me an hour to get home because the 11:30 never showed... damn buses.

Sunday I worked again and today Erin called me three times around 8 in the morning with some big news but didn't want to leave a message and still hasn't called me back boooo. Just finished watching the movie with Gregory "Things you can tell just by looking at her" terribly disturbing and depressing, don't see it.

8:39 pm - Halloween in Madtown
Brace yourself, I think this might be a long one... (I'm avoiding writing a huge paper due tomorrow)

Friday:
-Went to Aveda at 8 to get my hair permanently straightened and found out it's a 2-3 hour process and well, that left me with 0 to -60 minutes to get to my bus on time. So, no straight hair for my costume.
-Said goodbye to David at 10 :( sad sad sad
-Went to Starbucks. mmmmmmm tasty
-Got on the bus at 10:30
-Bus broke down for two hours (4:30-6:30) and I didn't get reception till 7:30, Jeanne was freaking out, thought I had died or something. Called Naomi, my dad, and probably several other people trying to find me. But she was sweet, she knew I was supposed to get in at 6:40 and waited for me in the parking lot for nearly an hour. Gotta love her.
-FINALLY got there at 8 and frantically pinned a red sheet around myself, put some jazzy makeup on and drank a couple gin and squirts and some shots of cappuccino Godiva liquor and then off we were!!!
-Stumbled over to Brian's party and got ahold of some free house cups and beer, took about 100 photos of us being absolutely crazy, and then started hiccuping like crazy. Erin got really mad at me for hiccuping so much and decided we should go to McDonalds for some food to make me stop. There was a huge line when we got there and Erin wanted to call someone so she asked me for her phone -I had it in my underwear... on vibrate ;)- So, I feel around my waist and... nothing's there! I panic, Erin panics, we run back to the party to look for it and I go back to McDonald's to look for it. I managed to get a bunch of people in line to look in the bushes with me, but no luck! And then I realize... I'm all alone, I have no idea where Erin and Jeanne live and I don't have my cell with me.
-I start wandering the streets and remember that McDonalds is kinda near where Jeanne and Erin live, so I ask someone how ot get back there and run into someone who's trying to get to Spring and Mills. I got way excited because that's only a block away from where I'm trying to go!!! So, we venture off together and he tries to put his arm around me and I'm too drunk to deal with some bastard like that so I tell him to get off and then we're magically on the street where their apartment is!!! I get really excited and start asking people where Jeanne and Erin live (of course, this was not the best idea in the world; especially since I could've just borrowed someone's cell phone and called them to ask for help. But hey, I was drunk as a skunk.) By this point I really have to go to the bathroom so I follow some stranger into one of the apartment buildings and walk into a random party to pee and then casually leave. I don't think anyone noticed me at all.
-Plan B: I start sneaking in to all of the apartment buildings and knocking on the appropriate door (one floor up, to the left) and then all of a sudden, one of Jeanne's angel room mates opens the door to let me in. OH JOYOUS DAY!!!!
-And that's when my brain was too drunk and too tired to think anymore. But I apparently ran around the house and went between the bathroom and the bed three times having to pee. I also stripped down to my underwear and ran around in just my underwear for a while till Erin yelled at me and threw a tank top at me, but she ended up having to put it on for me... it's good to have friends you can count on :)

Saturday
-Wake up to pancakes and a bunch of guys from high school that managed to get in, reminisced about old times over orange juice and then I took my much needed shower.
-Went out to coffee with Erin and then out to dinner with my parents, bought a new pair of boots and went out for coffee again (while still a little light headed from the night before)
-Met up with Erin for a cookout (that we both missed... Alex stole her hamburger. asshole)
-Went back to take a nap and then get dressed in the greatest costume EVER! We were metamorphosis. Jeanne was the caterpillar, Erin the cocoon and I was the butterfly! Many compliments came our way throughout the night. And once again, drunk drunk drunk. We decided to visit Dan at Ian's (amazing pizza joint) and then Jeanne and I left Erin and went home to make fettuccine alfredo and go to bed a bit early.

Sunday
-Naomi's dad dropped off a sewing machine at 9:30 in the morning (very heavy... ugh)
-Packed and then went to the bus depot at 11 for my eight hour ride back to Minneapolis (grr. hate the bus)

Really, you should see the pictures.

11:49 pm - Hammock
I just realized, when I was reading one of my LJs from summer, that I never bought my beloved and nonexistant hammock :( I blame this all on Jozef... He's always waving fun and fanciful things in my face and then backing out at the last second. No free pool table. No free Hammock. What a punk.

AND I haven't seen the kid in (what feels like) months. Which... doesn't really make sense since I think I saw him last week at the Wok... but he was at the other side of the table and I don't think I said one word to him... so yeah, doesn't count.

And now is the perfect time to sew myself a shirt! teehee. what fun!

4:07 pm - David
So... I just found out that my darling David put up a link to my live journal (which I haven't updated since the end of last semester or something like that) And I'm choosing to take this opportunity to tell him he's A ) a dork for doing so and B) absolutely adorable (he hates it when I tell him he's adorable. Heh, now everyone that follows his silly link will know... THE TRUTH)

p.s. You're a punk
p.p.s. luv ya!

Oh, and I also found out last night that I'm apparently a really big fan of alternative country?!?!!?! I really don't believe them (rhapsody and their category system)... I mean, Flaming Lips and My Morning Jacket don't sound anything like country! wtf?

I hate country.

And now I'm off to a night of fashion and mayhem!!!!

I HATE guests that come over and Naomi and Em feel like they need to feed them ALL of our food! Why do they think I don't eat ever? don't they feel guilty? it's like they're the ones starving me. They don't even care. I'm sorry I havn't written in forever, I just need to vent and David is in Alaska and I'm stranded without anyone to talk to and everyone in the kitchen where they can easily overhear a phone conversation. I also accidentally ate real hotdogs today, I'm repulsed and feel sick, I blame this entirely on Spencer. Though saying something to him right now would be bitchy, especially since his apartment just got broken into... poor boy. GODDAMNIT I MISS DAVID! and I still have 4 days to go... four days of NOTHING because Heartbreaker already made the schedule for this week when they hired me... This is so terrible. I have no money, running low on food. Another thing, Emily eats more than everyone in the house combined, so why does she feel the need to eat all of the communal food when she has stockpiles of (what I would now consider) gourmet eating?! I'm so fucking stressed and out of it. and of course they put me in charge of paying all of the bills... they think I'm made out of money because I make it seem like I have exorbitant amounts of it to spend on clothes. It's just a charade people, I'm poor as all hell. I have to buy $90 jeans to work at this fucking place and a hammock before it gets too cold to buy one. I miss david... I'm dying.

2:50 am - More movies
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: ummmm kinda shitty... maybe it would be good if you were on acid yourself, but I couldn't even make it through the first half of the movie it was that bad, and I VERY RARELY give up on a movie before it completely crashes and burns till the end.

King Arthur: is awesome, and I genuinely think that anyone would enjoy watching the movie, good for a date or get together of sorts.

3:32 am - Adrianne's Valentines Day
Things I've learned today: A) I apparently SUCK at giving speaches B) I continue to make stupid mistakes when doing ridiculously easy econ problems because I (stupidly) made the assumption that the question was so easy, that the answer needed no explanation... Well, I was wrong, it does!!! grrr. C) everyone was rightfully scared of David's haricut, and I have to say, he looks fairly decent with a buzz cut D) Adventures to Centennial are waaaaay more fun than many believe *see note below E) Tarot cards, though a bunch of bullshit, can be very entertaining F) There's a L33T part two!!!! HAMLET!!! happiness and hilarity!!!

*Note: Time for a story!!!! So, while trying to convince Becky to come get comfort ice cream from Centennial, I had the brilliant idea of tempting her with her very own cart ride (yes, i know, brialliant... because it worked! tee hee!) After Victor let us walk out with Becky's "chariot", we got all the way past coffman, when the UofM police stopped us, called Comstock's front desk, detained us from our journey for a full 5 minutes doing NOTHING, and then ended up driving away to tell us that the Comstock front desk guy had to talk to us when we got back... stupid freaking university police that get paid to dick around... But then we had oue new covert mission to hide the cart, sneak in through the back of centennial and achieve our mission. hmm, maybe you had to be there... but it was OODLES of fun, trust me!

oh, and point G) David and Greg rock!

Aight, guys, here's another short, but very necissary entry: I just cut David's hair... and it's the most preppy, disastrous thing I have ever seen... but I can say that I have GREATLY impoved from the last time I cut my brothers hair (it was me and yelena, in middle school, and we didn't even use a comb...)
Oh, and I also watched Million Dollar Baby, which was an ok movie, nothing fantastic, kind of depressing, but I've seen worse (on the waterfalls-of-tears scale *see I Am Sam for reference) But if it wins best picture just because Clint Eastwood was in it, as well as an uber buff Hilary Swank... I'm going to get veeeeery angry. Even more angry than tonight when Gwen and Bjork didn't win ANYTHING at the Grammys and Norah Jones got a trillion... AGAIN! ugh.

Yay for awesome Fridays!!!!!!! Aight, so, awoke, had a pleasant lunch with becks, then ventured to macnamara alumni center to check out the architecture with greg, my appointed tour guide and fellow architecure lover. Then the amazing shopping trip!!! :-D where i bought waaaaaaaaay too much... but it all kicks ass, and everyone convinced me not to return any of it. Which brings me back to the nazi checkout lady that violently ripped off the tag of my coat at the cash rep... so there was no way i could return it.... damn ragstock nazis. Anyhoo, after returning (and being hella late for our dinner date) we ate at Loring with a massive group of 5th floor peeps, it was good to see everyone again. And then Andy brought his highschool friend Aaron who put himself in charge of calculating how much each person owed down to the tip and tax ( which took him a good 10-15 minutes...) and then ended up screwing us all over (GRRRRR!!!!!) because he divi-ed up the gratuity and tax evenly between everyone, not proportionally to our meals... so basically, everyone that spent $5 on their meal, paid a 70% tip (esentially helping the bastard pay for his tip on his expensive steak he bought... bastard). But anyways!!! after that, me and the chicas watched an episode of Drawn Together and then felt extremely exhausted so went to bed. But, I woke up 15 minutes later, raging about how Aaron ripped us off and then was very very awake. So, luckily enough, greg just got off work and had been IMing a sleeping Adrianne for a couple minutes when I checked my computer and decided we should watch a movie, which morphed into a "Let's have David and Greg come over to my room till 7 in the morning to chill and talk" thing. Which was WAAAY FUN!!! :-D man, I love those guys, great fun. And I got some pretty incriminating photos too. tee hee

Sa-turd-day was kindof eventful, though definitely not as exciting as the day before. So, apartment shopping was fun shtuff, now I just have to suck it up and make appointments to take a look at them. Also, the apartment I was head over heels about was already taken... bastards. So, the apartment search continues. edited photos for a veeeeeeeery long time last night, and then went to see motorcycle diaries which was a very good movie, and you learn a bit of history along with the entertainment. So, yeah, go see it. The Profits were also way KICK ASS! but it saddens me to report that their cd recording arn't half as good as their live performance... sucks for me. Also sucks that the university bookstore isn't open on Sundays... grr

One new pair of cropped pants, 11 bobby pins, five shots of rum, two coca colas and a pair of classic stilettos and I was Gwen Stefani for the night! Ditching my own party 10 minutes after the guys got there, and running over to Ashley's wasn't really in the plan book, but hey, I havn't seen that girl in FOREVER and then I got to invade Spencer's party with her and chill with Greg and his crew, made a ton of new friends who are all now expecting to get discounts whenever I'm working at Banana... and Spence knighted me with his ninja turtle sword of "swoosh!", I was truely honored. After a LOT of dancing shinanigans back at the Rock Star party, we took the trek over to Wok for the sole purpose of showing off our rockin' costumes. tee hee. While walking back, we randomly ran into David, who I also havn't seen in, like, a century and also who was out to deposit money at 3 AM.... (silly boy), and decided we should hang out for a bit and possibly play pool. But, sadly the front desk man, eventhough I TOTALLY ate lunch with him once upon a time (and forgot his name.... yes, shame, I know) decided not to grant us with the pool set. punk. So, shooting down all of David's ideas (that would have left me passed out in a chair in his room), we decided to visit yet another party, well, "small gathering" we will say; which was all in good wheat-thin salty fun and goodness. HOORAY FOR AN AWESOME NIGHT!!!!!!!

Well, today was fuckin' fabulous!!!! (no joke!) But now I've been put into a bad mood... grrness. Anyways, my awesome day: sleeping in (always a good thing), talked to Tara who got a thousand and one compliments on the shirt I gave her from Urban (YAY!), finished editing pics, had a mini photoshoot, class was cool... I got to give an speach on the spot and I was the first in the class that was picked... heh, aaaaaaaaaaaaand I ate a krispy kreme and totally got attacked by the filling that oozed out onto my pant leg! i thought that was entertaining. OK! yeah, I'd think it's safe to say that if I transfer to Madison I would become a raging alcoholic and my grades would plumit into a deep abyss of pathetic-ness. But DAMN did I have fun or what?! But, I must start from the beginning.
So, I'm scheduled to leave at 2:30, work ends at 1, I should be fine to pack and even have time for a wonderful lunch... but no, errands up the wazoo! Still left on time though, with only a handfull of carrots to tide me over before the bowl of noodles... and I had been awake since 6AM with nothing to eat! grrrr hunger. Anyways, so, we arrive and get all dressed up for the profits concert, walk to the bar and then find out it's sold out. But hey, Jeanne still has a ticket with some other people that me and Erin don't know, so she ditches us (and her boyfriend) and goes to the concert. Grr again. But her boyfriend's apt is pretty slick and he was nice enough to walk over to Jeanne's and steal her moped for the nobel purpose of finding us a movie an Blockbuster. Danny Deckchair was the selection, and I would definitely reccomend it to anyone!!! It's a feel good, incredibly funny set in Aussi (and they all have accents!! tee hee! awesome!) Overall, a very subdued Friday.
Saturday my parents came and we had coffee and went to Urban where they were nice enough to buy a new coat for me [that's one, people... there are more to come] After coming home we had a baking fest and I decorated cookies of loooove for everyone. Then saturday night got wicked craaaaaaaaaaaaazy! Armed with six bottles of alcohol and a deck of cards with 52 different recipes for drinks, I was set to get plastered! And let me tell you... I did!!! When all of the boys came over, I was well on my way to drunk, and lucky for me, there was this cute guy from London who I managed to end up cuddling with at the end of the night (man, accents rock my WORLD) Though I did end up losing my leather cuff bracelet somewhere between Ian's and home... craptastic.
Luckily I woke up Sunday sans hangover and was able to go out to lunch with the girls and wow, I wish we had a Chin's near here, cause I'd be there 24-7. But CRAP I have a staff BR meeting at 5:30 and we didn't end up leaving till 2!!! But no worries, I got there and there were others that came in even after I did. Happy that I made it back without any broken bones and with my job safe and sound, I decided to (yeah, you arn't going to believe this... but it's true) skip the few blocks down to fourth street. I come to 3rd and my frolicing is interrupted by a guy who, perplexed by Minnesota (and Wisconsin... hmmm, maybe I'm a Minnesotan now?) nice and being from New York, was compelled to ask if I was on drugs.
So, I now sit at my computer with a huge grin on my face, three new winter coats, a shirt, and mixer. It's good to be back.
